🌟 Why This Tour Matters

The tour will serve as a litmus test for the Indian squad’s progress, particularly after their semifinal exit at the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024. It will also help the team acclimate to English conditions, similar to what they may face during the 2026 World Cup.

The series is also expected to attract significant viewership following the recent growth of women’s cricket in India, especially after the success of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

👥 Expected Key Players:

  • Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain) – Veteran leader and power-hitter
  • Smriti Mandhana – Elegant left-handed opener
  • Shafali Verma – Aggressive young talent in T20s
  • Richa Ghosh (WK) – Middle-order finisher
  • Deepti Sharma – All-rounder with spin option
  • Renuka Singh Thakur – Lead pace bowler

Youngsters from the U19 Women’s World Cup 2023-winning squad may also be included for exposure and development.

🗣️ BCCI Statement:

“This tour is a vital part of our roadmap for the 2026 Women’s World Cup. England offers world-class competition, and the team will benefit greatly from playing in challenging overseas conditions.”
